What does Placing on the Market mean?
Placing on the market means the first making available of an individual product on the EU market.
The term triggers many EU product obligations. What matters is not the start of serial production or listing a model, but the first making available of each individual product unit in the internal market. Later transactions are further making available by dealers or distributors.
Why does it matter for DPP and compliance?
ESPR DPP obligations can attach to placing on the market or putting into service when a product-group delegated act requires them. Then passport data, data carrier, unique product identifier and responsibilities must be approved before the first sales step.
What should teams prepare?
Companies should connect product release and DPP release. A product should not enter sales channels until required fields, evidence, identifiers, data carrier and the public view are approved.
